Dustin Lynch is in “party mode,” as his hit song “Thinking ‘Bout You” with MacKenzie Porter just made Billboard history today (April 19).
The smash hit sat at No. 1 in the Billboard Country Airplay chart for six weeks before parking it in the Top 10 for 27 weeks — aka over six months — making history for the longest running Top 10 single in the Billboard Country Airplay chart since its inception in 1990.
Currently sitting and No. 8, the Broken Bow Records star posted a photo of the achievement on instagram captioning it, “Y’all keep blowing us away with this song!”
Porter posted the same photo saying, “Mind is blown. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This is because of y’all.”
Since its release on May 3, 2021, fans have been streaming the song day and night while patiently waiting to hear it live during Lynch’s Party Mode Tour. When speaking with Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder on the red carpet at the 2022 CMT Music Awards in Nashville last Monday, April 11, the 36-year-old country crooner said that watching people sing and dance along to “Thinking ‘Bout You” — which was up for “Collaborative Video of the Year” at the show — during his concerts has been the “greatest gift” he’s received from the fans so far.
“We just hit the road on the Party Mode Tour, so to have that live feedback and to see people sing and dance to ‘Thinking ‘Bout You’ is the greatest gift I could ever think of,” he said.
The PLATINUM, six-week #1 duet, replaced the previous record holder, ‘If I Didn’t Love You’ by Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood, which held the title for 26 weeks.
Dustin Lynch is no stranger to blowing up the charts, as he’s been making waves on the Billboard Country Airplay chart since 2017 when his hit single “Small Town Boy” sat at No. 1 for four weeks. “Thinking ‘Bout You” has been streamed over 300 million times and marks Dustin’s eighth U.S. No. 1 at Country Radio and MacKenzie’s first.
“We’re just feeling the energy and loving it,” he said with excitement about the track.
“Thinking ‘Bout You” can be heard on Dustin’s fifth studio album, Blue In The Sky, which is available now on all streaming platforms. The project is a compilation of songs that introduces a new chapter for the country music star, and he can’t wait for everyone to “do some life” with each track.
“I couldn’t be more proud of this album and where I’m at right now in my career,” shared Lynch in a statement. “Life couldn’t look any brighter coming off the success of ‘Thinking ‘Bout You,’ and rolling into this next chapter with ‘Party Mode.’ I’m pumped for everyone to hear these songs and do some life with them.”
